The five gathering professions of Dofus Unity, compared
Every guide to levelling a profession on Dofus will tell you which one is “the most profitable” — almost none says what that claim rests on, and many still describe Dofus Retro.
Here are the figures. They come from EZGather's map reference, which records the location of every gatherable resource in the game, and from our own gathering-bot sessions.

The gathering professions compared
What each Dofus gathering profession carries across the world of Dofus Unity. The last column is the one that matters, and the one nobody publishes.
| Gathering professions | Resources | Maps | Spots | Density spots per map | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Farmer | 13 | 322 | 2,989 | 9.28 | densest |
| Miner | 16 | 345 | 1,589 | 4.61 | |
| Fisherman | 23 | 903 | 3,564 | 3.95 | |
| Lumberjack | 20 | 1,684 | 3,902 | 2.32 | |
| Alchemist | 13 | 1,831 | 3,009 | 1.64 | most spread out |
Density versus spread
The same five professions, placed by their density and the number of maps they cover. Top left, you gather; bottom right, you walk. The gap is one to five between the farmer and the alchemist.
The farmer is by far the most concentrated
Thirteen cereals, only 322 maps in the whole game, but more than nine spots per map. The Cania Fields alone reach 17 hemp spots per map and 16.2 flax. It is the profession where you spend the most time gathering and the least moving.
The lumberjack is the most spread out
Twenty wood types across 1,684 maps — half the gathering maps in the game — averaging 2.3 trees per map. It has the most spots in absolute terms, and it is also where travel weighs heaviest.
The alchemist is a special case
Its plants are everywhere — 1,831 maps, more than any other profession — but always one or two at a time. Nettle, its most common resource, drops to 1.27 spots per map across 483 different maps. It is the most tedious profession to level by hand.
Farming throughput, and how we measure it
562 bot sessions, 381 hours, 694,734 units gathered. For each profession: how many sessions practised it, the range of the middle half, and the median.
The method
- Our own sessions, in the real game — travel, fights and bank trips included in the time.
- The median and the range come from sessions longer than 45 minutes where this is the dominant profession.
- Median, not mean: one exceptional session does not pull the figure.
This figure depends on your sequence
Throughput is not a property of the profession. It comes from the sequence you run:
- A sequence gathering wood and herbs on the same maps splits its minute between two professions.
- A badly built route crosses empty maps: every map crossed is a map not gathered.
- A circuit on a concentrated resource collapses at the first competitor; on a scattered one, it holds.
How much does a Dofus farming bot earn with EZGather?
The pace measured on our sessions, what the world can supply, the competition on the spots. Pick your profession, your hours, your resources: the maths follows.
Average prices recorded on one of the game's servers on September 10, 2026 and refreshed daily. They change from one server to another and from one day to the next: a ballpark, not a quote.
How it is calculated
- The bot's pace: between that of our weakest sessions and that of our best ones, set by the pessimistic / optimistic slider, corrected by your mix's density relative to ours (square root of the ratio, bounded between 0.5 and 1.5), and slowed by the pressure above 40%.
- What the world can supply: for each resource, the spots reachable in one hour, its spots × 6 regrowths or 120 maps × its density, whichever is smaller, × units per harvest, minus the pressure.
- We gather the smaller of the two, resource by resource. A rare resource caps fast: 24 hours on elm wood alone is 65 spots in the whole game, not your lumberjack pace.
- Regrowth is set at ten minutes and the route at one map every thirty seconds: orders of magnitude, not measurements.
Which gathering profession to level on Dofus?
The right criterion depends on what you are after.
To level fast by hand
The farmer, without hesitation. Density decides everything, and the Cania Fields and Astrub Fields hold most of it.
To feed a crafting profession
The lumberjack. Planks are the profession's progression path and the most regular outlet.
For the least competition on spots
The miner, much of whose resources sit underground, and the fisherman, whose spots are more geographically scattered.
For variety
The fisherman, 23 species from Incarnam to the Ink Kingdom.
And if you automate
Density changes meaning. A spread-out profession like the lumberjack or the alchemist, unbearable by hand, becomes perfectly practical once you are no longer the one walking.
What the EZGather bot does on these five professions
EZGather is a Dofus Unity bot that automates gathering, and only gathering: no fighting, no marketplace, no maging. All five professions are covered, separately or together.
- A route drawn once — map by map, or by selecting a whole sub-area the app turns into an itinerary.
- The professions and resources you choose: on a mixed map, the rest is ignored.
- A full inventory handled, with an automatic bank deposit, then the route resumed where it stopped.
- No modification of the Dofus client: it relies on what the game displays and transmits, with visual recognition as a fallback.

Before running a bot on Dofus: the risk of a ban
Automation breaches Ankama's terms of service and exposes you to a sanction up to a permanent ban. We do not promise undetectability, and we invite you to be wary of those who do.
Frequently asked questions
Which gathering profession is the most profitable in Dofus Unity?
Profitability depends on your server's marketplace prices, which move constantly — no fixed ranking is honest. What can be measured is density: the farmer is the most concentrated profession in the game at 9.3 spots per map, the alchemist the most scattered at 1.6.
Can several gathering professions be levelled at once?
Yes. On a map carrying both wood and ore, a character who is both lumberjack and miner can gather everything. EZGather accepts several active professions at the same time.
How far do gathering professions level?
Up to level 200, with a new resource unlocked every ten levels across most of the progression.
Is a tool needed to gather?
No. In Dofus Unity, gathering requires no equipped tool: you gather by clicking directly on the resource, and the only gate is the profession level. Axes, pickaxes and scythes still exist, but as combat weapons — their level requirement is the character's. Fishing rods no longer exist as an equippable item at all. Guides listing tool tiers are describing Dofus Retro.
